Rahul Gandhi hopes that UID Card will help the funds to reach the poor

Congress General secretary Rahul Gandhi hopes that Aadhar UID card (unique identity number) would resolve the delivery challenges highlighted by his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. While speaking at a gathering of people from Bundelkhand in New Delhi, Rahul Gandhi said that his father had voiced concern regarding only 15 paise reaching the intended beneficiaries from one rupee allotted from the Centre. The Congress leader said that many people complained that the funds sanctioned under the Bundelkhand package not reaching them and hoped that UID card will resolve this issue as it would ensure the sanctioned funds to reach directly to them.
"Development is generating resources. The challenge is how to deliver it. My father Rajiv Gandhiji had once remarked that barely 15 paise reach you from Rs one sent from Delhi. The one thing that needs urgent change is this. How to ensure that you get the entire Rs one allotted for you," Rahul Gandhi said referring to the complaints of the alleged fraud in disbursement of funds under the Bundelkhand package and other scheme like Mahatma Gandhi NREGA.
Rahul Gandhi explained the gathering how UID card would subsume multiplicity of identity cards -- BPL card, ration card, job cards among others -- into a single card that will facilitate direct fund transfer to them.
