Slamming non-Congress parties like BSP, SP and BJP for doing nothing for poor, AICC General Secretary RahulGandhi had claimed that only Congress had been working for welfare of poor and dalits. “These non-Congress parties believe in the politics of caste and religion and look after welfare of their respective groups only, Rahul Gandhi had said during his recent campaigns for the UP Assembly elections. The Congress leader had added that Congress (I) follows inclusive policy which seeks to serve entire people without discrimination of caste or religion. Underlining that these non-Congress leaders did not meet the poor or bothered to know their issues, Rahul Gandhi said, “I visit the villages and houses of the poor to understand their problems and find solutions for them.” Congress (I) led Centre made a number of policies for the benefit of the poor further said the young Congress MP. “MNREGA provides guaranteed jobs to the poor, NRHM ensures facility of medicare for them, JNNURM makes available civil amenities, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan provides free education to poor children along with free study material, Mid-Day-Meal provides free nutritious meal to poor children of working parents,” said Rahul Gandhi detailing various Congress welfare schemes. Rahul Gandhi alleged that the benefits of these schemes were not reaching the poor because of wrong policies of non-Congress government. Assuring the people that Congress would put in place a system to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach them, Rahul Gandhi urged them to support Congress (I) for the better future.
