Attacking SP national chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on his home turf Mainpuri, Congress (I) General Secretary RahulGandhi had castigated him for showering all sorts of promises on the people just to get their votes. “Mulayam Ji is busy making tall promises like free electricity, free water and has also gone to the extent of promising free treatment abroad to common people suffering from major ailments. But I wish to ask him whether he did any of these things when he was the chief minister," Rahul had asked while addressing a Congress rally in Mainpuri during his Congress campaign for the UP Assembly elections. “When his party was in power the people got electricity bills but did not receive electricity”, added the Congress leader. Rahul Gandhi added that the youth of the state was hard working, talented and capable of transforming UP but because of absence of employment opportunities within the state, they had to migrate to other states for their livelihood. Assuring the youth that Congress would create employment opportunities within the state, Rahul Gandhi said if Congress (I) gets a chance to rule they would not have to leave their home state in search of jobs. The Congress General Secretary made a fervent appeal to the people to support congress.
