Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi lashed out at the successive non-Congress governments – of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Government and Samajwadi Party (SP) - in the state for the pathetic living conditions in Uttar Pradesh.
While speaking at a Congress rally in Mirzapur, Rahul Gandhi said that these non-Congress parties had betrayed the people in the state and urged the people to support Congress.
"You trusted Mayawati and voted her to power. You removed Mulayam Singh ji from power in 2007. There was so much anger in you against SP," recalled Rahul Gandhi.
"But what did she give you except the magical elephant which eats up all the money," Rahul Gandhi asked.
"Do you want development in the state or not? Rahul Gandhi asked again and continued “If you don't need development then clearly you don't want Congress. If you want to change UP, bring in development; make schools then definitely you need Congress”. “See what we (Congress) have done in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Assam. You can experience the development there," added Rahul Gandhi.
