Rahul Gandhi: BSP, SP failed miserably to develop UP
Expressing his concern for the
bad state of affairs in the most populous state of the country Uttar Pradesh,
Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said that UP is slowing India down
and also that the people should put an end to this. UP can be transformed and
it can regain its leading position which it held under Congress (I) rule, said the
Congress leader. The stagnation of Uttar Pradesh is pulling the country back
and leaders like Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav have failed repeatedly.
Mayawati was the CM for four times and Mulayam three times, but they did
nothing for development in UP said Rahul Gandhi. Praising the people, Rahul
Gandhi said the people and the youth of UP are hardworking, talented and they
have the wisdom to bring in changes in UP and added that all that UP needs is a
Government who bothers about the people. Referring to BJP’s opposition to the
Lokpal in the Parliament and Advani’s yatra against corruption, Rahul Gandhi
said that some senior BJP leaders have obsession for becoming prime minister. He
reiterated that Congress is determined to push the state on the path of
development and urged the people to give a chance to Congress (I) to form
government and promised that it would transform Uttar Pradesh.

Rahul Gandhi cited examples of MNREGA, NRHM, Janani Sauraksha Yojana, Sarva Shiksha Abhyan and Mid Day Meals. The Congress General Secretary claimed that these programs have benefited the poor in a big way. Further, Congress (I) brought RTI and RTE to empower the people. Thus, “Our credentials prove that Congress (I) alone can provide responsive government in UP”, said Rahul Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi while addressing an election rally in Moradabad said that the Centre made a number of schemes for the development of U.P and sent thousands of crores of rupees to the state under various schemes. “The Government at the Centre sent more than one lakh crore rupees to Uttar Pradesh. But it is a matter of great concern that the people of Uttar Pradesh could not avail the benefits. All these funds were swindled out in corruption and scams. There are reports of corruption in MNREGA and NRHM schemes,” she concerned.

We also increased the budget for the Maulana Azad Foundation to provide financial assistance for the modernization of the madrasas.

There is no shortage of fertilizers at the Centre and it sent fertilizers to UP, too. But because of the corrupt distribution system by the state Government, the farmers are not able to get adequate fertilizers in UP,” she added.

Rahul Gandhi: Misrule and corruption are the main issues in UP
Congress General Secretary RahulGandhi lashed out at BSP Chief Mayawati for ignoring the plight of the aam aadmi in UP. The Congress (I) General Secretary also said that the situation in the state will not change till the non-Congress parties like BSP of Mayawati and SP of Mulayam Singh Yadav are thrown out by the people.
“I have visited large parts of UP in the past few weeks, particularly eastern UP, where ‘FDI and Lokpal Bill were not the issues for the aam aadmi.. The misrule and corruption and the goonda raj were much bigger and relevant issues for the people in the state” said Rahul Gandhi. The focus of Congress (I) is to expose the misrule of the Mayawati and the misappropriation of thousands of crores of rupees allotted to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and other centrally sponsored schemes for the welfare of common people, said Rahul Gandhi.
