For the past two decades the people of UP got only hollow promises, said Rahul Gandhi while speaking at a huge public rally in Moradabad as part of his campaign for Congress in the recently held Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. The Congress leader also said that he had come not for making promises but to fight for a positive change in Uttar Pradesh.
Arguing that non-Congress parties did nothing except giving toll promises, the Congress General Secretary said, “During every election these non-Congress parties – BSP, SP and BJP - came to you with a list of promises. For the past 22 years you have been hearing only promises. They promise free electricity, water and jobs, but do nothing after the polls.”
Rahul Gandhi also said that the lack of development in Uttar Pradesh is not only harming UP, but the entire country also suffers. “There was a time when the state of Uttar Pradesh used to show the path to others. This is the biggest state in our country. The moment UP stands up, entire country will acknowledge it,” said the Congress leader.
Rahul Gandhi requested the people to support Congress so that Congress could form a Government in Uttar Pradesh. “A Congress Government will definitely bring back the lost glory of Uttar Pradesh”, promised the Congress leader and also assured all his help and support to bring in a change in the state with the help of the youth.
