Rahul Gandhi: UP is backward because of the misrule by non-Congress parties

Congress General Secretary RahulGandhi took on non-Congress parties BJP, BSP and SP for ruling the state over the last two decades without addressing the issues of the poor. Rahul Gandhi also alleged that the successive non-congress governments have looted the state of UP. Uttar Pradesh is backward due to misrule of these parties, the Congress leader said addressing various public rallies in the state as part of his Congress campaign. These non-Congress parties have been playing narrow politics with the people rather than for the people, added Rahul Gandhi. The Congress MP from Amethi said that Congress (I)-led UPA government at the centre has been sending huge amount of funds for development of UP. For instance huge funds were sent under MNREGA for providing employment to the rural poor. But Mayawati’s magic elephant in Lucknow ate up all the money. The poor got nothing, alleged Rahul Gandhi. All other schemes like NRHM, Janani Sauraksha Yojana, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mid Day Meals faltered due to corruption of these non-Congress parties, added the Congress leader. While MNREGA scheme is tremendous success in Congress (I) ruled states, in UP it is failure due to corruption in Mayawati government, said Rahul Gandhi.  Highlighting that the only way to put a stop to this loot is to reject these non-Congress parties, Rahul Gandhi asked the people to support Congress (I) and assured that it would provide a government that would be corruption-free, responsive to the needs of the people and put the state on path of progress and development.
