Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi who had spearheaded the Congress campaign in Uttar Pradesh came down heavily on non-Congress parties in Uttar Pradesh for the pathetic living conditions in the state.
“The opposition did not use its heart; its intentions were not clear either-- they made tall promises to win polls and announced that India was shining. It would have been better if they had said that India will shine, instead of India is shining” said Rahul Gandhi addressing a big public rally in Uttar Pradesh.
Rahul Gandhi further said that Congress came to the people after forming government at the Centre and discussed their issues. “The people told us that they had to migrate to look for jobs. So the congress led government brought MNREGA which guaranteed employment for the poor in villages. It was your idea and Congress simply implemented it” said the Congress leader.
After this, Rahul Gandhi said, we spoke to the farmers and learnt about their debt problems and brought the loan wavier package for them. Rahul Gandhi asked the people if they had seen Mayawati in their midst in the past five years or if Mulayam Singh had held their hands.
“Mayawati now says that these schemes are Congress’ drama and these policies would not benefit anyone. Go to Congress ruled states and see the difference these schemes have made to the lives of the people there. Mayawati does not move out of her house and does not know what has changed,’ said Rahul Gandhi.
