Rahul Gandhi: UP is slowing India down

Expressing his concern for the fifth largest and most populous state of the country, Congress (I) general secretary Rahul Gandhi has said, “UP is slowing India down, and we are not going to let this happen.” UP can be transformed and it can regain its leading position which it held under Congress (I) rule, he said at the end of the campaign for the first phase of UP Assembly elections on February 7.  The stagnation of Uttar Pradesh is pulling the country back and leaders like Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav would not at all be able to reverse this situation as they have failed repeatedly – Mayawati four times and Mulayam three times.  Praising the people, he said the people and the youth of UP are hardworking, talented and can transform the state and added that all that UP needs is someone who can hold its hand and give lead to the people. Referring to BJP’s opposition to the Lokpal in the Parliament and its senior leader’s yatra against corruption, Rahul Gandhi said some big BJP leaders have obsession for becoming prime minister. Highlighting that his party is determined to push the state on the path of development, he urged the people this time to give a chance to Congress (I) to form government and promised that it would transform Uttar Pradesh and they would see the change in five years time only.
