Accusing Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj party (BSP) and Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party of making false promises to woo voters for Assembly elections 2012, Congress (I) General Secretary RahulGandhi has said these leaders are only interested to remain in power. That is why they can choose to make any number of promises that will please the people, said Rahul Gandhi during public meetings for the ongoing Assembly elections. “We are here not for politics. We are here to change the way the state is being run and bring progress and development,” he added. There is no development in UP because the leaders here are not interested in it, he further said. Pointing out to other states Rahul Gandhi said, “You can see that the other states are moving forward with speed. Look at Maharashtra, Haryana, Delhi, Kerala, look anywhere where there is a government of the Congress party, the states are progressing with speed." Highlighting that Congress (I) has committed leaders and visionary plans for development of the state, Rahul Gandhi exhorted the people to strength the hands of Congress (I) by voting in its favour. He assured that Congress (I) will change the face of the state and they will be able to feel the change in next five years.
