Attacking Mayawati for forcibly acquiring the lands of the farmers, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she robbed farmers to favor corporate builders at any cost. She committed atrocities on the farmers to grab their lands, said Rahul Gandhi during public meetings for the ongoing Assembly elections 2012. In western UP particularly in and around NOIDA land is in high demand. In order to fulfill her greed for money choicest land selected by private parties were forcibly acquired in the name of public purpose by invoking urgency clause. Afterwards by changing land use from public to private purpose those lands were sold to private parties at 10-15 times higher rates. Poor farmers got compensation at nominal rates while she made huge profits in the deal. When farmers demanded market price of their lands whether it was Bhatta-Parsaul or Thappal, they were killed, their property was destroyed and their women were attacked, said Rahul Gandhi. He reminded the people that Mayawati was anti-farmer while Congress (I) has brought pro-farmer Land Acquisition Bill in the Parliament. Urging the people this time to give a chance to his party to form government, Rahul Gandhi assured them Congress (I) would be pro-farmer and pro-people government.
