Phulphur rally: Rahul depicts the plight of the poor in UP

The Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has come up with strong words highlighting the pitiable state of the poor in India’s heartland state Uttar Pradesh, that need to ponder over.

In his speech to the grand gathering at Phulpur rally that hit the campaign trail for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, Rahul Gandhi depicted the plight of people that were supposed to be benefited under various social welfare schemes run by the Centre.

The Gandhi scion alleged the ruling Mayawati government in the state has totally failed to implement the schemes for the poor and needy. Rather, her government has indulged in immense malpractice and misuse of the funds meant for noble cause.

“Crores of rupees were sent to the state which disappeared. The money was not used in implementing the MGNREGA. It was used in making calendars and postcards by the BSP workers for their own political needs. Instead of employing laborers, machines were used,” said Rahul.

With a thumbing start to the much awaited electoral campaign, Rahul Gandhi has revealed the face of the state government in UP and that the poor there have suffered a lot under the Mayawati’s rule.
