Rahul Gandhi claims, Congress alone fulfills the promises

Slamming the non-Congress leaders like Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav for cheating the people with false promises over the last two decades, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that Congress (I) makes sure to deliver what it promises to the people. It being a party of the people Congress (I) seek to serve them by empowering them with education, knowledge, technology, employment and all round development, said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for the recent Assembly elections in UP. Referring to rampant corruption and non-development in Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi said, non-congress governments have been working on day-to-day basis, this is, how to loot public money rather than thinking on the long term basis for the welfare and development. While unemployment is adversely affecting the career opportunities for the youth, virtual non-existence of health care services have compounded the miseries of the poor. For alleviating these adverse situations Congress (I) brought MNREGA with release of Rs 60,000 crores for providing employment to the poor. NRHM scheme with release of Rs 10,000 crores was launched for improving health care services, said the Congress leader. But the money was looted by Mayawati government and nothing reached the poor, added Rahul Gandhi. Urging the people to oust the corrupt Mayawati government, Rahul Gandhi promised that this time if Congress (I) is voted to power it would put in place a delivery system to ensure that the benefits of welfare as well as development schemes positively reach them.

Mayawati is not interested in the welfare of the poor, aam aadmi: Rahul Gandhi

Slamming Mayawati for ignoring the welfare of poor and the development of the state, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that she has all along been running the government for self and in her party’s interest at the cost of the dalits and the poor. Uttar Pradesh remains the most backward state, had said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for the recently held UP Assembly elections. “She is running the most corrupt government which is benefiting the rich, corporate houses and thekedars at the cost of the aam admi,” further said Rahul Gandhi adding that dalits and poor have suffered most under her government. Rahul Gandhi said that money sent by the Congress led central government for welfare of the poor was stolen by her government leaving the poor huffing.  People are fed up with this atrocious situation all over the state. Ministers and legislators are themselves involved in corruption and crime cases and misusing their official position to make money. Lokayukta has indicted around two dozen of Mayawati’s cabinet ministers and legislators for corruption. She has dropped as many as 26 ministers on corruption charges and some of her legislators are in jail for serious crimes like murder. Asserting that that Congress (I) would put an end to all this, Rahul Gandhi promised that his party – congress- would ensure welfare of the people, good governance and fast track development in the state.

Remove corrupt BJP, urges Rahul Gandhi in Karnataka

HUBLI: All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had started and ended his talk, asking the people to root out the corrupt BJP in Karnataka.

In his brief address on Saturday to a large crowd at Nehru Grounds, Rahul Gandhi termed the BJP government here as the "most corrupt" in the country. Rahul Gandhi, who landed here for the concluding session of the three-day national executive meet of the Youth Congress, chose to target former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and highlighted his alleged corrupt practices. "Karnataka used to be known for a pro-people, pro-IT, pro-farmers' government. But in its four years, the BJP government has brought down the image of the state and made it known as the most corrupt in the country. The Congress should change the image of the state by rooting out this corrupt government," Rahul Gandhi said to applause from the audience.

He was more critical of the government for its alleged failure to implement and utilize central schemes. "Leaders have forgotten to implement central schemes," Rahul Gandhi added.

Stating that elections to the Youth Congress was the gateway to electoral politics, without support from godfathers, the Congress General Secretary said that the system had brought many fresh and enthusiastic faces to the Congress.

"Be it Punjab, Gujarat or Tamil Nadu, elections to the Youth Congress has worked well for internal democracy," said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi urges Congress workers in Karnataka to work as a unit

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Sunday urged the Congress workers to work unitedly to come back to power in Karnataka.
Rahul Gandhi who was on a two-day visit to Karnataka, interacted with members of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), DCC and Block Congress Committee presidents.
During his 60-minute interaction with the members, the Congress leader took their questions on various issues including, strengthening the party at the grass root level.
Rahul Gandhi appealed the Congress leaders not to discriminate between senior and juniors for party work. Those present on the occasion included KPCC president G Parameshwara, party Karnataka in charge Madhusudan Mistry, Union Ministers Veerappa Moily and Mallikarjun Kharge.

Rahul Gandhi: Development is more important, Congress realizes it

Slamming the past non-Congress governments of both Mayawati as well as Mulayam Singh Yadav for ignoring the problems of the people, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said, “We understand the issues of the people of UP.” “Twenty-two years have gone by. But what did you get from these parties,” Rahul Gandhi asked the people while campaigning recently for the last UP Assembly elections.  “BJP only talked about mandir and left after bidding its time.  Then Mulayam Singh came and promoted only the interests of his group ignoring the people. Annoyed people put Mayawati in power. But she turned out be worst and unleashed reign of corruption and extortions” said Rahul Gandhi.  Highlighting that the issues of the people and development are more important than the politics of these non-Congress parties, Rahul Gandhi requested the people to say good bye to these parties and give a chance to Congress to form government in the state.  The Congress leader also promised that that Congress (I) will fulfill the aspirations of the people and attend to their issues. “We will do all that these parties failed to do in 22 years,” added Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi to visit Karnataka to revive Congress

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will be undertaking a two-day visit to Karnataka from June 2 in a bid to revive Congress and to formulate the Congress’s strategy for the 2013 assembly polls in the state.
He will attend the Youth Congress national executive committee meeting in Hubli on June 2. After the meeting, Rahul Gandhi will participate in an interaction session in which he would meet senior citizens, intellectuals, retired officers and Jnanapeeth awardees, and seek their suggestions to make the administration more responsive.
On the second day of his tour, the Congress leader is scheduled to visit Davanagere where he will interact with all elected members of Congress, including members of municipalities and other local bodies. Rahul Gandhi also will address a gathering of about 5,000 elected representatives. The Congress General Secretary will hold discussion with senior leaders and executive committee members of KPCC.
After lunch, Rahul Gandhi will hold an interaction session with students. The state Congress sources say that Rahul Gandhi’s visit will boost the morale of the young in order to build the nation on the lines of secular and progressive line.

Rahul Gandhi: The fear of ‘elephants’ haunted the people of UP throughout the past five years

Pointing out that “Your state leaders benefit by creating differences between two castes, religions, take your support in the form of votes and vanish when needed,” AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had assured the people that Congress (I) will work for development of UP.

“We will deliver what the other parties miserably failed to do in the last 22 years,” Rahul Gandhi had said recently while addressing various public meetings for the UP Assembly elections. Attacking Mayawati for doing nothing to improve the conditions of the people, Rahul Gandhi had said  indifference of BSP government towards people reached to such a level that while throughout the day the poor worked for earning their bread and during the night they feared that 'elephants' would come and snatch their day's earnings.

“The fear of elephants haunted the people throughout these past five years,” further said the young Congress MP from Amethi. Highlighting that the only way to come out of this squalid situation was to put Congress (I) in driver’s seat in Lucknow, Rahul Gandhi fervently appealed to the people to vote for Congress (I) to make this possible.  The Congress leader assured that his party would provide responsible government and work for development. “We will ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach the poor,” added Rahul Gandhi.
